The correct depth in transom to reinstall transom plate I am drilling out the holes today for the 88 cobra transom plate. My question is I watched a few videos on drilling out the mickey mouse ears but all seem to be for a merc drive. So the holes are a little lower from the top and the cobra ones are at the top. So what is the angle, the correct hole saw to use and what is the set back from the opening? thanks

Mouse ears 88 cobra

How are the mouse ears set up to cut on a 88 cobra just did the transom and have opening cut out 1/2 inch holes drilled and next step is to drill mouse ears. I saw a mercruiser but the holes are down about 6 inches from the top where as mine were at the top. What's the set back and angle of attack and what size hole saw is used

Have posted on three forums and no one has a clue. Lol. Time to message folks on you tube. Guess it something unique with omc cobra outdrive which to be fair is 30 years old.

Ayuh,.... I just did a Mercruiser, 'n the tiller arm reliefs are in fact at the top,.....

I used a 1, 1/2" holesaw, 'n eyeballed 'em at 'bout 45*s, then cleaned it up with an angle grinder,.....

Once the transom assembly is test mounted, I'll relieve 'em more if necessary, or seal it up if everything clears,....
