The exact proceedure will be determined by what clearances the machinist used. If he uses the EXACT clearances / tolerances / specs that OMC used, you can follow their proceedures. If he's done anything differently, he's going to have to specify. That includes cutting anything off the decks or heads.
Make sure the carbs got cleaned.
Make sure you get a complete cooling system service.
Make sure you get written instructions from the rebuilder. Follow them to a T.
Above all, make sure you find - and correct - the reason the powerhead had to be rebuilt. A damaged piston is not a cause. It's a result.
