I know, I know... BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand.

But it doesn't HAVE to be that way.

Being a retiree on a fixed income, I have to stretch every buck, as do many others. What I don't have in cash though, I make up for with time. I don't have to worry about waiting for weekends, etc. so can take however long it takes to get things done.

So far, with the 2 project boats that I purchased back in January, I am now actually a few dollars ahead of what I spent. That is to say, I now have 2 boats and 2 trailers, plus a BUNCH of accessories, including an electric trolling motor and bracket, completely paid for with no cash out of my pocket.

AND I now have a pocket full of cash to be used for the purchase of an outboard!

The money I received today for the 115hp Mercury I sold was more than I paid for the little boat, motor, trailer and accessories combined. Cool.

Anybody else have good luck like that with your projects? :D

Not as good as yours!
Was that that 115 Merc that was on a 12-14 skiff? Mr Toads Wild ride right?

Sold my IMP Pawnee Tri-Hull a while back.
Bought for 200
Sold for 300

Put that towrds this Starcraft I found for 800, so the way I see it, I have 500 bucks in buying this project..But man, much more potential and the hours spent sanding, standing on the deck I put in, looking at how she will look in my mind while I am in her drinking a cold one..that is Priceless...

Do a few jobs on outboards for others when time permits which makes a few bucks. If the employment thing in the auto industry hits me I will be looking for lots more !!!!

Yep, that's the one shown below. Hadn't started the motor since January. The battery was dead but the buyer hooked up jumper cables and the engine fired right up. Sold!

He also bought the $50 engine stand I had young Steven weld up for me for $100 in addition to the price of the motor. 100% return on investment. Heh heh.

Now, if I can just keep that luck in purchasing a smaller motor!
