Breaking into your house

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the
country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the
issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might
protect its
own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this
country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly
understand the thinking behind these protests. Let's say I break into
your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you
insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the
dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the
things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for
when I broke into your house). According to the protesters, not only
must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan,
educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my
husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and
honest, except for that breaking in part). If you try to call the
police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It's only
fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just
trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest, um, except for
well, you know. And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house,
contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is
nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness,
prejudice and being anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn
my language so you can communicate with me.

Only in America....

Well first I need a picture d:)8)

In my hood you would be shot! And thats my answer to the problem, give them 30 days to get out, and shoot the terrorists that did not leave! harsh, maybe.

You fail to see the reason behind the break in. In their own home things were not fair. They had no opportunity to better themselves at someone else’s expense. You see they are not really “illegal immigrants” at all, they are refugees from the war on civil rights and corruption being waged in the country that borders US to the south.

what good is a border if it isn't defended? not that i support building a huge fence but there's a saying about fences making great neighbors or something.

i read an article that equated what's happening to our southern border to what happened to the roman's near the end of their run. their territory had grown so big they couldn't defend the borders when their size and power started to dwindle. i wish i remembered more of the history or the article.

Obviously Limited-Times' house and assets are open to these poor deprived rejects whose family and country has disposed of.Maybe our goverment can reach a compromise and distribute welcome mats and no vacancy signs upon legal citizen request.I'm fresh out of assets because I didn't discard my family nor was looking for a line I could stand in to have someone else provide educational and occupational opportunities for my haphazzard child bearing habits. There is a legal process involved in becoming an American citizen that isn't governed or tailored to fit whatever country sees fit to delegate its own responsibilities in a willy nilly border flooding methodology approach. For every truly sad illegal immigrant story of a guy just looking to do an honest days work to better himself, there are 3 that are running drugs, pumping out kids that are for the most part dependent on goverment assistance. As will their children be.

Okay, my flack jacket is zipped up.Fire at will.

xtraham, it's not so much you broke in, more like you were invited in by somebody who didn't have authority to let you in. Otherwise pretty much the same.

I can't understand entering another country illegally then demanding citizenship.

Interestingly I heard an interview with a south Texas farmer on the radio the other day, I am not making this up, he said, "If they send all them people back down there, whose gone do all the work?"

My guess is he'll have to offer a higher wage and compensate by increasing his prices. I'm okay with that, personally.

Good analogy, but you forgot about the sign out front that says "Great jobs inside, key is under the mat".

Who invited them? So, we don't have 12' fences with guard towers every 50' along the border? Is that an invitation?

I don't like profiling, but they need to hit the cause where it hurts. Fine any employer that has hired an undocumented worker $10,000.00 per worker, then go looking for them.

My wife is a German citizen, been here for 18 years. Has a BA. in Nursing, makes $28.00 per hr. and has a 760 credit rating. She just payed off her student loan last year, has never gotten a dime in Welfare, WIC, or Food Stamps. She speaks perfect English with the cutest accent, only lapses back into German when I deserve it, and writes grammatically correct English.... Are they offering her shortcuts to citizenship? Hell No!!! She has to do just like every other nationality does... go through the process, take the tests, pay the money.

Rant off.... :|

We are actually in agreement. I just feel strongly that by not doing the latter we are in fact inviting them. Yes, they must sneak in, but we are actively looking the other way. It is pretty close to an invitation. If we got tough with the carrot, we would not need a stick . . .

That rule has been rewritten. You can only scream that phrase if you're not a gringo_Otherwise you'll be taken for a pot stirring bigot that is trying to cash in on someone elses hardship.Hey,look at the bright side.In another 20 years or so,the gringo will be the minority.Of course by then ,we won't need to level the playing field.8)

OB, so right, but then, as a born American it seems I'm already a minority, at least as far as Gov.org sees.

Crunch, I don't know what special rules you're referring to. My wife has ancestors that were Texican when Texas was Mexico. Plenty of Hispanics are just as American as you or me if not more so. But you should know that the concept of non-discrimination was introduced way after the founding of this country. For the record, I'm personally in favor of non-discrimination. Just don't come into my house illegally and demand citizenship.
