[colour=blue]He was filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef. One of his children was with him, his wife is currently in Tasmania trekking through the Cradle Mountain region.

He was swimming above a stingray (very close), the ray got him with it's stinger prong straight through the heart.

The title of the doco he was filming - "Animals that can kill you".

My feelings exactly.
The one bright side is that his children when they are older will be able to look at his films and know what he was about.
Might not do much for them now but later it will.

I was thinkin it -- glad someone else posted it.
From the guy he was going to shoot with next (on "good mornin america"), he was a good person, a gentle, normal guy off-camera, and always knew the dangers of his job going in.
He aslo did a lot for the environment of the creatures he featured.
Surely, God has him now.

This is very sad. He was a greatchampion for nature and all the animals who can't speak for themselves. I really liked the FedEx commercial he did.

very sad .
I always enjoyed his work.
sometimes I thought he pushed a bit to far but he was very good at what he did.
he will be missed by all.
it was just one of those freakish incidents.
my prayers go out to those he left behind.

Although he often irritated the cr@p out of me, Steve was a genuinely motivated environmentalist and used his undoubted enthusiasm and talent to teach thousands of kids (and adults) the benefits of looking after the beautiful and sometimes not so beautiful flora and fauna we're blessed with. May he rest in peace.:'(

He might not be an icon, but he sure inspired a lot of young mind about nature. He will be missed.

Never heard of the guy till today.
Saw some of his stunts on the news today.
What a stupid sob.
Can you imagine feeding a croc a dead chicken while holding a baby in his other hand.

Talk about irresponsible.

Have no comment on his passing, just on his stupidity.
What a great example he was for all the copycats.

Ok, let me have it.
