Im currently in the market for a tournament Bass boat and im finding several I like that has the bridgeport 2.4 merc's on them. Can anyone tell me what kind of reliability I could expect from this motor for fishing bass tournaments? I know its known for its SPEED but im needing reliability as well.

Thanks,
Mitch.

Re: Bridgeport 2.4 reliability

Tha carburated BP would be better suited for a fishin' enviorment than tha efi (horn) BP. When healthy both are very good motors for their intended use. Its just that tha efi can be a little tempermentel sometimes. Not always but some can have issues. I've got two (one carb and one efi) right now but I know these motors inside out so its a little easier for me to deal with any problems. Tha carb motor is very, very dependable and wouldn't hesitate ta use it as a fishin' motor but tha efi in stock form I might not. Another thing that should be considered is tha boat its on. They are made ta be stem winders on a light boat. On heavier boats ya gotta work 'em pretty hard.
Just be sure ta do tha normal comp and leak down test ta make sure.......D
