After a great season (mechanically and weather)- heading to ramp to pull it out -running along ~3200RPM- engine slowed and died- started right back up though- could get about 2200 rpm before you could feel the power decreasing again. I have not looked at the fuel system yet. Any other hints? (Mercruiser 260hp- ~150hrs - 2002 model.)

Re: Bringing it home...

dave, i had me a similar problem this summer. i couldn't get wot, only about 3500rpm. later it got to the point where same as you. couldn't get about idle hardly, died if i gave it throttle, but started right back up every time.(this happened all at once too) it was an excessivly dirty fuel filter. $5 and problem fixed. i had 2 filters actually. one at the carb that was cleanable, one on the fuel pump, that was the real dirty one that got replaced. i have unknown hours on mine. jim

This is the time of year that the fuel water sep is really tested.A lot of condensation occurs when the temp varies as much as it does from 40 degrees in the am to 75 degrees in the daytime.Check it.Charlie
