That looked easier to pull start than my '54 Johnson 25hp!

Re: Bringing my '59 Starflite Back to life

Thanks. I think it was my MASSIVE right arm strength, really. At least that's the story I'm going to use. Hey- I AM a blacksmith after all :)

It wasn't overly difficult to start, but I certainly wouldn't want to start it like that too often! The electric starter works just fine (I jumped it to test when I was checking the compression before I replaced the head gasket), and will certainly be the preferred method of getting her running!

I've got all the parts on order now, including a new water pump kit, carb rebuild kit, fuel pump kit, rotor, points and condenser, and a few other misc. items. Luckily, MOST of the parts are available for this motor still, Since they used a very similar design for a long time!

I'll probably get some extras of the 'consumable' parts to stockpile-Keeping in mind that this motor is over 50 years old at this point, and parts aren't going to get any easier to find :)

You must be kin to the Incredible Hulk!!

I'd hate to have to do that when a T'storm popped up!! Time flies when you're having fun, huh?!

Just a side note;
That is the same engine that I talked about last year and then I saw "lindy46" 's avatar and that is the same boat that the engine was on! Believe I have a pic somewhere in the house of this rig. Wish I had a pic of it pulling the 4 skiers.

Ah, enough reminiscing! ENJOY!!
