Broken bearing cage - connecting rod - need to replace?

When replacing one of the pistons on my 1992 Force 150 hp - snapped one of the connecting rod small end bearing cages in two pieces. Of the 7 bearings captured in the cage, 5 are in one piece, 1 is in the other, and one is in between where the broken spot was. Clean break, edges fit back together ok.

Got it back together and the connecting rod cap reinstalled with exact alignment (when dragging a pointy object over the two seams it doesn't catch).

My question is: Should I replace the cage with a new one, or once it is installed with good alignment is it ok? New one requires purchase of a whole set - including both halves of the cages and the 16 bearings, runs something like $137.

Thanks,

$ 137 is alot cheaper than a new engine.

You do mean the big end, don't you? Do not run the engine. Replace the cage. Send me a private message with your address and I will mail you a couple. I have tons of them just lying around. Just mail me back with the postage.
