I normally cut my neighbors's grass for him every year. Today I let my step son cut it. He knocked over the base of a stone bird bath and cracked it in two. Is there any way to fix it? Its not he part that holds water. It is just the base. It is going to be very expensive if I have to replace it. I was thinking about trying gorilla glue.. Anybody got any ideas.

Most modern glues will do it, stl. Just be sure it is waterproof.

Also may depend on whether the break was at an angle or straight across the base and what the weight of the basin is when full. Two mating surfaces with no missing fragments would also be better for epoxying. Also whether the guy will settle for a repair job.Good luck.

We try to get our kids to do things like cutting grass,to help them find a sense of responsibility, and that will help them mature. But they have to learn. As we did, back then.

If you are normally cutting the grass as a favor, then the homeowner has some obligation. He's on a free ticket. If you are a landscaper and had your son do the job, your company pays.

Make this a learning experience, for both of you.

DHP

Wow that gorilla glue will proably work but.... the reapir will show. I think you may be pleased to find out that the bird baths are not too exspensive.

Depending on the type of birdbath, you can buy some of the bases separate that will adapt to the basin.

Update, I finally got a chance to talk to my neighbor, and told him what happened. He said he was been wanting to get rid of that bird bath for a couple of years now but it is too heavy for him to handle. He is 78 years old. So if I will dispose of it for him we will call it even. Its a good thing he is a nice guy.
