I have an 8 HP Evinrude 1988-Belgium. When cleaning the carb I broke the corner off the top plate of the carb where the throttle roller assembly mounts to the carb (plastic top cover).
Does anyone have one of these on an old one or do you know if it is available as a separate part without having to purchase the entire carb?
The model # is E8RCCS and the serial # is B 1636623.

Re: Broken carb

Hey Rabbit....take the top and model number to your local John/Rude dealer and get a new one. They are still available. There was a late and early production model so take the top with you.

The early production model has the low speed needle going in through the front of the top. The late model has it going in through the side of the top on the starboard side.

The kit comes with a new gasket also or some dealers just might carry the top by itself.

Thanks OBJ, I did that and that is exactly what they told me , about 30.00$ I was afraid I was going to have to buy the entire carb. I bet that's not the first one of those you've seen that happen to.

Re: Broken carb

What I see lots of are the guys that think the screws that hold the top on have to be torqued to 100ft. lb.....LOL!! Snap the top everytime. Or, they try to over tighten the shoulder screw that holds the cam follower roller on. Yours should have a stud that the roller lever fits over and a small oring to hold it in place. Put a little lube on the stud before you put the roller on.

AND DON'T over tighten the screws that hold the top on....the holes are numbered for tightening sequence.

Let us know how she runs Rabbit..... :)
