Broken glass

Got a call from my marina this morning. They were removing the shrink wrap and "discovered" the sliding glass door has broken glass. Not the slider itself but the stationary glass on either side. When they shrink wrap my boat they take the bimini off the flybridge and set it on the rear deck. I'm 99% certain someone slipped either taking it down or putting it back up and ran the end of the bimini frame through the glass. I can see how it would happen. The frame is heavy by itself. Add the weight of the material and it gets really cumbersome.

Of course they don't know how it occurred and I suppose there is a chance that it just happened on it's own. I was just there yesterday touching up the bottom paint. I wish I would have cut a hole in the shrink wrap and looked in. And of course they would never admit to having made a mistake. Not much I can do except call my insurance guy. New plan for the end of the season is to be there when the work is being done.

Rant over.

The good thing is the glass won't cost that much. Call the local glass place and they can even install on site, or at least they do it that way around here. They came out and replaced one of the windows on my backhoe. Just needs to be tempered glass, but not the stuff used in windshields (safety glass)

I know...my rant is about the way the service department never accepts responsibility. Last season, when we uncovered her, she was missing the cover for the rear seat. It was there when we left it. Of course no one knows what happened. $500 later we have a new cover.

This is an extremely popular marina and I've met more than one person who has told me "they don't care". If I was to leave they'd fill my slip in a heartbeat.

Well if you know they are that way, either take videos before hand or take your boat some place else. Complaining only helps you vent, but doesn't stop the problems. JMHO

The service department caused a total loss of my previous boat and they denied it so yeah...I hear you.
