89 4.3 OMC - snapped the plastic front to the solenoid when trying to remove the lead from the battery to the solenoid. Can I glue it together?

If not, I'd like to open a can of worms...I know the typical advice is not to go with auto parts, but my engine compartment is well vented (i.e., not enclosed). Will an auto solenoid suffice?

Thanks

as long as its USCG rated for ign protection and UL listed for marine use it will work just fine.

If we are talking about the solenoid on top of the starter, get another marine starter or have a starter shop rebuild it,as marine. If it's the slave or assist solenoid, replace it.

As for well vented....

I quote Clint Eastwood a couple times :

Do you feel lucky,punk.

Don't **** down my back and tell me it's raining

DHP

HAAA - Robby - it was a reference to my apparently ignorant suggestion that you could use an auto solenoid. It's probably a fitting nickname for a newbie like myself...

Actually, I remember one dark and stormy back in the 70's, had the boat hooked up, was a party of a friends, picked up some girl, and we were going to head to the lake house when the damn Chevy would not start. Waited until morning, went to town, bought a new starter, and well, you don't need a psychic to figure out I did the same thing, and had to but a second stater. Hey, had a damn good core to take back!
