Re: Broken plastic nipple on fuel pump body
Great ideas everyone. Cofe, that is what I was thinking, i did tap the outlet, but even if I could get a fitting in there, the I.D. would probably be too small. I looked at drilling larger, but like you said, not enough plastic would be left around the hole to be solid.
Tim, no problem. I like the idea of checking repair shops. I will pursue that next.
GM280, that is a great idea as well. If I can't find a cheap replacement, I will give that a shot.
One thing I plan on doing is re routing the hose around the back of the engine block. the original location runs underneath in front of the block and makes everything very tight and stressed. This will require either an angled hose barb or if I go with GM280 idea, I could put a nice bend in the tubing.
Its tempting to relocate the whole pump anyway. I can't see any advantage to the way it is wedged into the original position. Guess it saved on tubing length, and they weren't worried about easy access for repair.
