Broken Speedo Tubing

When taking apart my alpha 1 gen 2 I noticed the speedo tubing broken at the quick connect fitting. I'm in Alaska and it takes a while to get parts. Is it ok to run the boat without that hooked up? I was worried about water getting into the hole so I was thinking about plugging it at the drive until I get the part.

Water is pushed into that hole from the front of the drive when running, that's what makes the speedometer work. So no, it won't hurt anything to run without it.
