Hi everyone,
I'm new to boating and a I need a little help. I own a 86' Bayliner Capri 19ft with a 225E Volvo penta 275 drive. I took it out for the first time over memorial weekend and it ran like a champ.
My questions are: My spedometer is broken, Where do I begin to look for the problem?

Also, when I was on the 5mph zone my boat would not move in a straight line, it moved more like a shark goin side to side while moving forward, How can I correct this?

You will have a pitot tube that looks similar to the picture below attached to the transom. Sometimes they get kicked up, or broken off.

Low speed wander on V hulled boats is normal.

Mine was just kicked up and I just pushed it back down and it was working again, it may be as simple as that. Good luck!
