well i finally broke down and bought a new boat

its a 14' aluminum flat-bottom boat.

with a 7.5hp sears motor
trolling motor
trailer
2 seats
a battery

I got the guy to throw in 2 life vests, two new lights, and new tires. and a ball hitch that would fit the trailer lol.

with tax and everything it came to be 1024!

so it ain't the prettiest thing on the river but hey she gets me on the water at least.

and do ya'll know anything about sears motors? I didn't have time to look at the numbers on it because i had to get to work but just wanted some basic info on them

I took it out on the lake before i signed anything to test drive it and both the motor and trolling motor work great now i just have to get use to backing it up :p

I think its a pretty good boat and for a first boat i think it'll do me just fine. being only 20 years old I had to budget this in but i did it and im just excited to get it out :)

so what do y'all think?

Congrats on your first boat! Some of the more experienced boaters here can tell you more than me about the motor, so I won't try. Regardless of age, it's a nice looking boat, and you should be proud! I wish you many safe boating adventures.

It could very well be an Eska. Is it air cooled?

I too bought a used boat last year and am having a blast with it. Dont believe the line about the two best days of owning a boat. To be honest I have more fun working on it than I do out on the water!

The only bad thing is that your money will disappear faster than it is doing now! No only kidding!! Just dont tell the wife/girlfriend.:D

Congratulations. Don't know anything about the Sears, but given the overall price, if you only get one season out of it, you can find a similar horsepower motor for a relatively low price. I am sure how good the motor is depends on the year. In general "Sears" stuff is built by someone else for them, so you should be able to find parts. Some of the motor guys around here would know better.

Well I did look in the "other outboard brands" section and I found out that it is an "eska" rebranded as a "sears". Try posting in that section and perhaps someone can help you.

Hey, Congratulations! My first boat was almost the same as yours. 14' Lowe flat bottom & 9.9 Eska. Lots of good times at a low budget. Eska engine ran great for as long as I had it. Enjoy & be safe.

That should make a real nice fishing rig. I got my first aluminum fishing boat last season. Trust me, the smaller rigs are easier to trailer especially for a newbie. Enjoy!

now i just have to get use to backing it up :p

Here's a quick tip for backing up:

When you want the boat to go left, turn the BOTTOM of your steering wheel left.
The opposite works also.

Hope you have many happy times with your new boat, congrats!
