Hi, I'm Adrian from Argentina. I am rebuilding an OMC Sterndrive electric Shift.
I am looking for a substitute for Evinrude Gasket Sealant Compound because in my country it is not available.
I can get Niel Seal Gasket & join sealing compound Medium, Loctite 518 or Loctite 5699 Grey (silicone).

Which do you recommend?

thanks.

thanks Scott. I do not get these products in my country. For this reason the question is whether Niel Seal Gasket is a replacement for Loctite Aviation or Permatex Aviation. Niel Seal Gasket & Join sealing is an aviation product
thanks

I read real good reviews concerning the Niel gasket & joint sealer on line. It sounds like a really great gasket & joint sealer that resists the ill effects of gasoline, fuel oil, kerosene, solvents, water, petroleum products of all types, etc. It does not get hard or brittle and it will fill in uneven mating parts that do not meet perfectly. It says it is good to use on gear boxes as well. I would use it.

You don't have Mercury motors there? Interesting.

Yes, we have Mercury, Evinrude, Yamaha, Honda, Parsum engines, etc. What is very difficult or impossible to obtain are spare parts or specific supplies such as this joint sealant. Evinrude does not import this because it is expensive for the mechanic and it does not sell. We have many import costs. For this reason the mechanic uses less specific sealants such as Loctite 5699 Gray or Loctite 518. As I am doing the work for myself and it is a hobby I want to put the best I can buy. And I found this product (Neil ..) in an aeronautical store. And from there the doubt arose if it is better to use this product or one of the other two that I mentioned before. I hope my English is understood. Thank you!

What I was able to verify is that Loctite Aviation supports 400 ° F and Niel Seal supports 200 ° F. That I don't know if it will be a problem.

Do you know if TiteSeal(NIel Seal) Gasket Sealing Compound light is a replacement for Permatex Aviation? It is the only one that I find for sale in Argentina.

TDS:
FUNCTION AND APPLICATION: NIEL SEAL LIGHT WEIGHT is a flexible compound for use as a joint sealing compound, caulking compound, corrosive preventative, lubricant, threaded joint dressing, insulating material or filler with packing. Used on head and manifold gaskets of automotive and aircraft engines, water heater fittings gaskets, gas range valves and fitting, pipe threads on dry-cleaning solvent filters, railroad and truck air-brakes, fittings and lines, etc. For all metal-to-metal unions with any kind of gasket.

OUTSTANDING PROPERTIES: NIEL SEAL LIGHT WEIGHT is unaffected by water, oil, gasoline, glycerin, steam, gas vapor, exhaust fumes and most hard-to-hold liquids. Withstands extreme temperatures; will not harden, vibration-proof and easy to disassemble for repairs and adjustments. Prevents corrosion and seizing of metal parts. Expands and contracts with
temperature changes without affecting seal.

USE DIRECTIONS: NIEL SEAL LIGHT WEIGHT will form seals at a temperature range of
20 to 250°F. Before applying, wipe surfaces dry and clean, then simply spread on. With gaskets: coat joint surfaces and spread evenly. Without gaskets: coat joint surfaces and embed small
thread or string as a binder. As a filler: apply as a bond between regular packing and metal
surfaces_ Do not use thinners.
