Just in case anyone thought Bombardier Recreational Products wasnt moving forward, this just in...<br /><br />BRP has a new engine and it flies<br /><br />Bombardier Recreational Products the manufacturer of Evinrude and Johnson outboards for the marine industry is expanding into the aircraft field with this weeks launch of a new engine for select airframers and experimental aircraft builders.<br /><br />Bombardier says the new V220 and V300T engines represent the first modern V aircraft engine configurations with a true Fully Authoritative Digital Engine Control. They also feature low maintenance, high durability, lower sound emissions, MoGas capabilities and the best power-to-weight ratio in their class, according to the manufacturer.<br /><br />We begin a new era in the general aviation industry, Michel Baril, president and chief operating officer of Bombardier Recreational Products, said in a statement. This technology is years beyond what currently exists.<br /><br />Developed by the engineering team at Bombardier-Rotax in Gunskirshen, Austria, the engines are currently undergoing final phases of development and certification for fixed and rotor wing applications scheduled to be completed in 2005. They were unveiled to the public on Tuesday at AirVenture 2003 in Oshkosh,Wis., which continues through Aug. 3.<br /><br />The engines will be manufactured by Bombardier-Rotax and distributed in the United States by Bombardier Recreational Products of Sturtevant, Wis.
