Brush on paint without brushmarks??Is this possible??

Hi all. I REALLY want to get my vinatge 15 foot cutter looking better this winter. I'm looking at some interlux paint, and the manufacture claims "brush marks disappear". Is the freaking possible? I've never brushed on paint without brushmarks. Had decent luck with foam brushes but you still have that line on each side of the stroke. What do yall think of this?

I used the Interlux Perfection with very good results.

I applied it using their "Roll & Tip" method.

Use a foam roller.............comes out pretty good.

I was suprised.........used it in the cockpit area.

I slobbered on Epifanes topside green with a foam brush in full afternoon sun on a 'glass "new to me" canoe surface that was hit with 120 grit on an R/O sander and really warm to the touch.. The green was to get the "Partridge Family Bus" paint scheme to one color. I used a foam brush and was just barely able to maintain a wet edge. Short answer I did EVEYTHING WRONG!!

Man what a nice finnish I ended up with, no brush marks, there were hardly any sworles from the sander the paint fill was really surprising in all the micro dings and even with a heavy coat there was no sag (heavy coat not advised) on the vertical surfaces. With good prep and good paint you will be fine.

PS.. I put the canoe overboard within 24 hrs to go fishing and the paint is still on three years later.. Epifanes is REALLY top shelf !!

Yep, the "roll and tip" method works. Not 100% but pretty darn close. You have to look very close to see any.

I used Pettit Easypoxy on an old runabout. Used a smooth surface roller and the most important part is to wet sand with at least a 400 grit paper before the final coat which should be much more thinned out. What I liked about this paint is that it is a one-part epoxy and controlling humidity was not an issue.

Keep in mind though your paint job (rolling, brushing, or spraying) is only as good as the surface prep before it. Any imperfections not filled and sanded will be amplified by the new paint job.

I just finished the second coat of Interlux Brightside on the deck of my old cruiser. The answere in using Brightside and making it work as advertised is to prep the surface as Interlux recommends, prep it some more, followed by more prep. Then apply the paint with a smooth finish roller (i like mohair) then tip the surface with a good quality china brush. I am very happy with the result. The pictures are a litle dark and they do not do the paint justice, but I am very happy with it. Did I mention prep work is important?
