Simple question...

How would you rate Bryant boats from 1-10?

Was looking at a 1994 18ft that has only had two owners.

Talked to the owner today and he as "all" of the service/winterizing paper work on the boat.

Pic of the boat.

Re: Bryant boats...

Ya know I dont think a day goes by without this same question being ask :) Each time I read one I stop and think about it for a while. I have come up with a few thoughts that may be relevant and may not.

#1 most of the people that have been here for a while all know this one, Its not the make of the boat but upkeep on the boat thats most important. An average quality boat with even average maintenance is better the best with none.

#2 this is really a biggie for me, does it start your motor just looking at it ?

#3 ask 50 people what is the best boat you will get 9.5 different answers, so who is right and who is wrong?

#4 they all have one of two different engine/drive unit, so which is best. The boat maker has nothing to do with the major parts of the boat other then the hull.

#5 wood, OMG is there wood in the boat, some of the best boat makers in the world still use wood, so is it bad or OK or good?

My points is that boat selection is a very subjective process based on exp and for the most part hear-say. People will tell you how good or bad a boat is when they have NEVER even been in one, go figure.

my advice make sure its sound and get what lights your fire :)

Dave

ps: Skenny thats a very nice looking boat, gota love red :)

Bryant is a top enf manufacturer of these sorts of boats. Now, this one has been used for 14 years, so that's more important - but if cared for, I'd sure want one.

btw, just in general, if the owner of a used boat hs service records in an organized file/binder that's one of the best initial signs that it might be a good one to look at further! I don't know if I've come across the organized record keeper who isn't also an organized boat keeper!

Solid 9, they make very good boats with excellent attention to detail.

I agree with the posts about the car of the boat being more important than the manufacturer though. The picture sure looks nice. I suspect it's a well cared for boat from your description.

Don't be afraid to pay for a well-made and well-maintained boat. My first boat was poorly constructed, and abused and neglected before I bought it. I learned an awful lot from it, the most important lesson being, don't buy a cheaply made, abused and neglected boat. My next two boats were "cream puffs", both decently built, very well cared for, and priced accordingly. I will always seek out the "cream puffs" now.

Re: Bryant boats...

I looked at 2008's and felt they were a solid 8-9. To me what puts them that high is their outside the box thinking not necessarily a quality of materials difference. That is an oldy so can only guess their quality was good back then. They hower have very poor name recognition and sadly the few newer bowriders for sale around me have been for sale since last year which is a lot longer than they should have been. The prices are probably fair for a good quality bowrider but few know Bryant. The ads have to explain what Bryant is about and then try to compare them to a brand people will likely know. If you are buying a boat that old, likely you do not care about recognition. It looks and sounds nice.

Re: Bryant boats...

Thanks for the info.

I have been on the hunt for a boat for about 2 months solid.
I am trying to be very patient with it since it will be my first boat that I have owned.

It has the Merc V6 and it also has about 1/2 of the interior re-covered.
The other half he is saying is still in very nice conditoon.

Floor and stringers are solid.

It has a new CD player with remote and dual battery switch to run radio seperate. Boat includes bimini top, 2 props (1 Stainless and 1 Aluminum).

Approx 425 hrs.

I am just waiting for him to get it from a couple counties away from where we live and de-winterize it.

Im crossing my fingers on this one.

VARAGO - I really like the red myself and YES it really caught my attention  when I seen the picture. Just hope the boat in person is just as nice.
