I am interested in finding out any info on buccaneer days at two harbors on catalina.

My boat is not big enough to take across from la so we need info on camping and other suggestions/accommodations. We have already tried to reserve a campsite but they are full already.

Any ideas????

You didn't specify what kind of accomodations you be wanting. I mean, "We" may not like to rough it, as in primitive camping. That could narrow your options.

You need a permit to camp anywhere on the island. I like Emerald Bay the most. The Boy Scouts lease it out to the public. There is a nice little camp site up the hill from Avalon, towards the Wrigley house and sorta' across the street form the gold course. There are land and water shuttles available.

Any type of camping would be fine including just a spot to set up a tent. It does not need to have any bathrooms or showers (although it is more than okay if it does)

Our biggest concern is having a place that we can access from Two Harbors without a boat. Can you get to emerald bay or the boy scouts camp grounds easily? We would need something within walking distance unless there is other transportation.

There is a scheduled water taxi from Avalon to Two Harbor. I don't remember exactly--you'll want to verify by calling the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center in Avalon--if the taxi will drop you at Emerald. For the Buccaneer Days event, I'm pretty sure there will be a water shuttle between Emerald and the Isthimus.

There is also a scheduled land shuttle from Avalon to Two Harbors.

Since my trips to Cat Is have been by private boat or staying in the vicinity of Avalon, I'm not sure of how the transportation will meet your needs. Therefore, I suggest you get on the horn to verify everything.

Avalon Shoreboat/Island Navigation 310-510-0409 ext. 210
Catalina Surfari Bus 310-510-2800

Also, in response to your query of how easy is it to get around; outside of Avalon proper, nothing is easy in Catalina. It's that way by design. Bring your stamina and sense of adventure. Going to and fro can itself be the adventure. You're on a rugged island with few amenities so enjoy it for what it is.
