Re: Buffalo Sabres Capture 2006-07 Presidents' Trophy

To be honest I thought Hasek's first and second return to Detroit were horrible ideas. After his return from retirement I haven't had a whole lot of respect for him and thought the Wings treated CuJo very poorly. However, Dom has turned out to be the best bargain in the NHL this year, my opinion only. Here's to hoping the glass groin holds up. If not I am actually confident in Osgood to backstop them throughout the playoffs.

If Buffalo can stay healthy this time around, they have a great line through the playoffs. Not easy mind you, but teams I think they match up with very well. If the young guys, Max and Vanek primarily, can play close to their regular season levels. They will at least make the EC finals.

The Sens do have a great team but from experience with him here Murray can't take a team all the way as a coach. Emery seems to be the real deal and Heatley, Spezza, and Alfredson are simply amazing to watch.

In regards to Crosby and the rest of the kids. I don't see it happening this year. I think their lack of experience in the playoffs is going to hamper them this season, especially in the nets where they don't have a playoff veteran to help Fleury in the mental grind. But the next 5 years or so (until all the young guns start reaching RFA status one of my many dislikes in the new CBA) they will be right in the battle year in and year out.

Go Wings!!

I like Buffalo's chances at reaching conference finals, after that who knows.

One stat that is skewing the final results of the regular season is the shoot out, Buffalo went in to SO twelve times and won ten times that's 10 extra points that weren't there two seasons ago. http://jeays.net/shootout/index.htm this link shows how many times teams went in to SO win & losses. If you are predicting out comes this is a valuable stat to consider, because you want a team that can win by playing hockey.

Well the Sabres lost game 6 in overtime, time to break out the golf clubs for them. :(
I hope Detroit makes it and wins the Cup.

No shame - Ottawa hit the playoffs playing like a team possessed. Being on the other side of the Atlantic, I didn't get to see any of Bison games, but I know what they did to Pittsburgh - they were just to physical and hussled to the puck every like mad men. Being that they beat the Bisons, I am sure it was the same. If they keep playing like that, they will be hard to beat ...

Sorry to see that Plainsman! Go Wings!
btw We used to have season tickets to a local junior-A hockey club and Ryan Millers cousin played on the team. I sat next to him (R. M.)at quite a few games. He was a pretty nice guy, but didn't say much if you didn't ask. He was a local hero at the time as MSU's goalie. It's a hoot to see him on tv.

Congratulations to the Ottawa Senators on their victory over the Buffalo Sabres. I really thought that series would go longer. Can't say that I really want the Wings to face either of them though.

I have to retract my prior statement regarding Brian Murray, he has his boys playing lights out right now. I will stand by my statement of whomever comes out of the west will lose though. Take for example, the Wings have traveled over 27,000 miles for the playoffs this year, along with my opinion that the west is the more physical conference.

Yet i digress, hopefully the Sabres can bring back Danny and Chris in the off season. That team is just to fun to watch.

May 29th, first day of the finals and of course I leave on June 2nd for a week of fishing with no tv at the cabin to watch, work obligations exclude any other dates this summer. I guess I'll just have to go into the local bar. Whether Detroit or Anaheim makes it I just hope it's a well played battle.

Until next year we will have to wait for the up tempo battles of the Buffalo Sabres.

On a side note, any rumors on what they are going to do now that there is no longer a third jersey in the NHL?
