Building a mast to tow with

I read a walkthrough someone did on another site about building a small mast in the back of his boat to hook a tow line too.

I can't seem to remember the correct term for what that apparatus was called, so i can't google it again.

Any help or ideas would be welcome. We're doing some major remodeling to my boat, and now would be the time to add something like this.

To add- the goal, we'd like to have a pole roughly 4 feet tall in the middle, just a foot or two forward of the sterndrive, to hook a tow line too, if possible.

Thanks,
Chris

What are you aiming to tow? If its a skier, that would be a pylon, if you're looking to tow boats, that would be called a bitt, although I believe there are different terms, and I have seen ski pylons used as towing bitts, just to make this confusing.
Good luck.

Hehe... Yeah, I forgot there are "other" uses for boats ;)

I'd be towing inner tubes and skiiers ;)

Thanks,

Its generally not recommended to pull tubes with a ski pylon. Potential loading is too high and could result in failure of the pylon and personal injury.
