I need to build a website, however, I have no clue as to how to do it. I own a small company, and I need to get a website up and I cannot afford to hire a firm to do it. I have been looking into building my own site through godaddy.com and their website builder called website tonight, and a number of other programs. They are basically just a program that helps you build a site by using templates. Does anyone have any advice on this? Pros or cons? Will this type of site ever be found on a search engine after being submitted and all that good stuff?

Re: Building a website

Thats a good way to get started (Godaddy). Another way to get some momentum on this is to look into local community college courses on this. They will completely walk you through it and show you how to do it. When you are done the course, often you have your website up and running.
My youngest sister took one of these courses and then promptly designed/did a website for my other (older) sisters 'mini-business'. She said it was pretty easy and actually kind of fun.
Might be another thing to look into?

I have built many sites with both Godaddy and Yahoo Sitebuilder. I much prefer Yahoo for simplicity, speed and advanced format. Both are easy though...

I like godaddy, also, most ISP's now days include web space to host a web site on, ect.

May want to check with them (your isp) also.
