Hey thanks Shadow, lots of work but very rewarding!

Those hatches and liners are very expensive. I used an Igloo marine cooler from walmart. You can get some fairly low profile Igloo coolers on the cheap

The cooler from Walmart idea seems like a better one if you want to be able to use the space for multiple things.

I dont know about being "very expensive" since a hatch and liner can be had for $100... Perfect installation in an hour and built to withstand walking on so no issues being under a seat cushion. They are MUCH more durable than el cheapo coolers too.
Not that a coolers is a bad idea, just that the hatch and liner works too and may serve the op's needs quite well.
