I went overboard and did my bases in 3/4 marine grade that was left over from the deck. I coated the wood in epoxy and used epoxy peanut butter at the joints. Hinges from www.veada.com

I didn't glass anything other than the gunwale supports. The upholsterer looked at the pictures and siad that those bases will be around for the next hundred years

Boat looks great. I love that dark metallic blue. Reminds me of my navy blue metallic TransAm WS6.

I think I am going to go the MDO route. I am pretty sure I can get a good deal on it. One of my clients is a large retail graphics company. They go through the MDO. I think I can buy it through them at their cost. I may even be able to pick up some drop off from the shop for part of it. I'll find out tomorrow.

Thanks man. If the MDO is encapsulated in a resin of some sort and it can't absorb water then you should be good for a long time.

Thanks. I loved that car. I never should have traded it in. I bought it brand new for my birthday in Feb 2001. The wife wanted a new Lexus a couple of years ago so I traded it in. Oh well hind sight is 20/20. There are a couple more pics of it here.

I order 2 sheets of 3/4 MDO to start. I also picked up a 2' X 4' piece of drop off from my client. That should at least get the engine cover done and probably some of the other smaller pieces of the seats.

Pics will follow once I get rolling on the seats. Might be a few days though.

You'll love the stuff!!!

I've used it in my woodshop for making jigs. I always bought the double sided. Cost me the last time $62.00 It is VERY stable, has more plys than normal plywood and STAYS flat. All these years never realized it was marine grade. I guess you CAN teach an OLD dog new tricks.
