I have a 2002 rinker 212 captiva. I am going to be adding a DIY swim platform to the boat. I'll be using hangers made from two pieces of stainless steel tubing with them being bolted together at the end of the platform. The transom is bulbous as you get closer to the stern drive. Is there any concern in still mounting a hanger on the bulbous part? I believe the transom to be 2 inches thick, I'm guessing its still 2" thick there also? That's my question, if its 2" thick every where on the transom? And if you would see a problem in mounting it onto the bulbous part?

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... Yer gonna have to crawl in/ under there, 'n Look,.....
Btw,... a camera can put yer eyes where yer head won't fit,.....

My guess is, the 2" thick part of the transom is only the flat area, not the "bulbous" part, which is more likely 1/4 to 3/8" thick,.....

The boat is currently at the mechanics. Ill try to get a few shots the next time im in town. Would you not recommend putting stress on it, if it is thinner?

If it is thinner then you would have to add something for support, the thinner part would most definitely be a weak point

My boat has bumpouts on the transom, but they're near the top on both sides. They are just fiberglass with expanding foam poured in; they would not be suitable for mounting swim platform brackets.

I'd be concerned yours are similarly constructed. I'd much rather anchor into a flat section, so you know you're supported by the transom core, rather than just a thin layer of fiberglass.
