As I have posted before, I need to replace the small o-rings that seal the water from coming out of the exhaust pipes at the actuator opening for the captains call exhaust solenoid. There are two small o-rings on the actuator rod that goes into the pipe which the flapper screws onto.

I went down to my local autoparts store and found what looks to be the right size orings so I got them. They are made out of "Buna-n" which is nitrile as I understand. My concern is, will this material be ok to use? They are black o-rings...The original o-rings I pulled are orange. I would imagine that with water going through the exhaust pipes it doesnt get TOO terribly hot.

Any words of wisdom?

Thanks,
Casey

Doing some further looking around online it seems like I am seeing that Buna-N orings are good for 250-300*F. Now the question...How hot do the pipes get with fresh water running through them??

The orange o-rings may be silicone which holds a much higher temp rating than Buna.
