Your already aware of not doing it. So the battle is half won. If you don't have a Bow Safety Chain from your winch Stand to the Bow Eye Bolt . GET ONE! You don't want to trust just the strap or cable. You can make your own. Then don't unhook the boat at the front winch stand until the trailer is in the water or down at the bottom of the ramp.

I have only been with people that had bunk trailers and they worked ok but were just a little tough to get the boat off them sometimes in low waters w/ a low slope ramp. I just bought my first boat and it has a roller trailer. I have only taken it out once. I loved it...gonna be great...boat slides right off it...i'll have to say it is a little different to load but won't take too long to get the hang of it and i'll hopefully look like a pro

If your Trailer doesn't have the Winch Stand to Bow Eye Bolt Safety Chain. Get one or put one on now. You can make one or use a cheap ratchet strap. But don't trust the winch strap alone. They are safe but also can fail so you don't want to take a chance of losing your boat on the highway or at the ramp incline. Also DO NOT UNHOOK THE WINCH STRAP UNTIL THE TRAILER is at the bottom of the ramp or in the water The boat might ROLL RIGHT OFF ONTO THE RAMP.
