Reading jbcurt00's "1957 Duracraft Duraflite Custom" thread and saw a post from m casey stock - "I Love this idea, we all need to leave little treasures for future restores/rebuilders to find. Very cool indeed."

Got me thinking, there are many different treasures buried in our boats that we are restoring. I would like to start this thread as a place to put all the different things we have done as surprises for those that get our boats years down the road.

I have two - the back of the transom has a little note...

And a surprise for color choice on the gas tank...

So let's see what treasures you have in your boats...or if you know of any out in the other threads post 'em...If you post one from another members thread then give a link back to their thread.

I plan on putting the 2 pull tabs I found back under the new floor when it's installed.

My '68 Sportcraft had a vintage, metal first aid kit with an old bottle of Mercurochrome in it.

I snuck out of the house on a day off and drove to PA to pick up the boat. On the way there, my wife texted me and I told her I was off buying another boat(she's a really great sport and is used to this by now). When I got it home (she's a nurse) she LOVED the boat and knew it was meant to be when she saw the old first aid kit in the glove box.

The aluminum piece next to the tank stringer is a approx 2 foot piece of factory rub rail channel.

And now the boat has a small section of channel that needs a splice

one mans trash....is anothers treasure :)

While we were deconstructing my boat, we found a jigsaw blade entombed in resin under the sole of the aft cabin.

I left my moniker on one of the bulkheads under the salon sole.

Cool idea! Just jotted a few lines on the bottom of the splash well bench before epoxy. It will be in plain sight for anyone looking in the bilge.

Oh carp, now we 'have' to include a rendering of our boat underway :faint2: I am so not a 'coloring inside the lines' type of ArTist....

Nice job raising the bar eboat85. The old bar was already too high for some of us to throw an arthritic hip over.

Yeah, I said it. You know who you are. And anybody here that isn't there yet, just keep resto-mod'ing boats, you'll get there. :cold:

Here's one. I found it just recently while deconstructing my 1982 Glastron Hpv165 bass boat. This was underneath the fuel tank. The tank fit so tightly in this spot that it's almost as if someone put it down there and then reinstalled the tank over the top of it. Why would they do that? Who knows.

That would be one heck of a trick to get it under the mounted tank. Maybe they were running short on shims at the factory.

Dude was installing the tank in his back yard and the sun was cooking the back of his neck ...."Now I know I just had my copper tone sitting right here, what the heck did I do with it????" ....:D Been there many times!!!

Love the thread TROOP, I've got to come up with something to hide in mine, maybe a note under the bow I had to repair? something like "if you want a fishing rig, buy a fishing rig to begin with, but Please don't chop up a nice runabout." No no just kidding around, I'll come up with something nice to say.

I like that take on the coppertone. That's probably what did happen. He never found it.
