I have a 1994 Black Max 200 that has burned up two trim/tilt motors this year. Wires from the motor to the solenoid are literally melting, and once it melted solenoids. My only thought is that water is getting into the switch on the throttle and completeing both up and down circuits simultaneously.

pelkins,I think you maybe correct. The trim motor is running when it should not.Maybe not up and down at the same time, but certainy one of them ,too long.
The switch at the control is a good bet.
Don't know your boat, but some boats also have a bow station and motor well station switches also.
DHP

Thanks for the response. I have a quicksilver control with a recessed switch (terrible design).Do you happen to know where I might find a replacement switch or do you have to buy a whole new control unit.

No, the switch should be available.Go to your dealer, because there are many controls, and you will have to pick which one to get the right switch.
DHP
