Burnt Valve Volvo 145 AQ

I have a burnt valve in a Volvo 145 AQ engine. Can someone give me advice on the best route to take with this problem. Should I rebuild the upper engine or just repair the valve. What would you estimate the cost of repair for 1 burnt valve?

I do recommend you do all the valves. There are several things you need to check. Remove the exhaust manifold. Inspect number four cylinder exhaust port. If it is burned out you have more problems. It should look like number 1,2 and 3 cylinders. If it is burned it is repairable. Volvo has a special milling broach to cut out the exhaust port. I install an annodized ring in the port. I have done a lot of these valve jobs. You must have all the special Volvo tools to do such. It takes special shims to adjust your valves and do the job right. Hi Salmontroller! Just a word from Sweden:<br /><br />Ain't this just a great board? Gene70 is right and just offered you more than money can buy: Experience...<br /><br />I'm sure you will remember to check the overall condition of the head as they sometimes are almost eaten from the inside. If your engine is without heat exchanger (cooled by sea water, that is) you might consider fitting this.<br /><br />Also remember to count in the needed service parts (timing belt, oil & filters etc.)
