Re: bus heater install
Has anyone mounted a bus heater in a 245, and if so were did you mount the unit? I want to put one in but I am stumped as to where the best location for the unit to go would be .
Thanks!
I was a leadman for Ryder School Transportation in Illinois and would install those heaters all the time. The biggest problem is after about a year, they started to leak. The 12 volt motor that would help circulate the antifreeze would eventually go out as well. So, you would be stuck with nothing more than a heater core. It will still exchange heat, just not as well without the blower on it.
I'm not sure if it would work with a I/O set up since those pumps are designed to be installed on a closed system. If you didn't stray too far from the motor you could get away without the circulation pump.(10 feet or so)
As it was previously mentioned before, it may be easier to get a small propane heater but, now you have to deal with Co and fire hazard.
