Busy day at the lake

It seems that boating season is here again. The ramps by my house were covered up. Just as many trucks approaching the ramps from the wrong direction as they were approaching from the right direction. Large ski boats tied off to the courtesy dock with no one around them. Trucks seemingly abandoned at the ramp with many boats cruising about 100 yards out. The guy who tied up to the dock to sit and talk while I waited nearby found himself waiting on me to move my truck from the ramp. It's a wonder no one got shot.

Sounds pretty rough. Its amazing how many people have the me first attitude, no matter how many are waiting.

Sounds like boating there has turned into "rush hour" traffic.<br /><br />If I couldn't find uncrowded waters and ramps I would quit boating.

I am soooooooooooooo gald I sliped ALL my boats this year. My slip for one boat this year cost more than the boat. However to avoid that headache and mess it is well worth it.<br />

A lot of this mess could be cleared up if the governing bodies would post some clear and simple instructions for everyone. <br />Signage, dock space, trailer prep area, tie down area.<br /><br />Something as simple as a sign that reads "This dock for launch and retrieval only, cargo loading and parking at that ---> dock only.<br /><br />One river I launch at has a sign that says "Launch boats only on the downstream side of the dock --->"<br /><br />This works well and leaves the upstream side open for those that are trying to retrieve their boats.
