Too big to run on a stand and too much other stuff needed (controls, battery, wiring, etc.) and probably not too safe either. Run on boat in test tank, with boat backed down a launch ramp enough to keep the water pickup under water, etc.

Sloopy what about a public ramp when there are no other boats waiting to launch?

Still its going to ruin the bottom of the ramp and the mud around it! it will cause people to get there boat trailers stuck in the ditch it makes, you will be amassed that just a 20 horse power engine can dig a huge hole!!!

Sloopy,

I disagree with you on this one, most ramp owners that I know would welcome someone to come and test their motors when the ramp is not busy. #1 this increases their business as people tend to come back and pay a launch fee.#2 this is how several of them "clean" excess mud and silt from the concrete ramp area.

I have 2 made by local welder, made from square tubing, I have had a 200 V6 running up to 4000rpms for a few seconds, with no problems. I can get you tubing size.

CLANTON THANKS, IT WOULD BE VERY HELPFULL IF YOU COULD .HOW ABOUT A PIC, I STARTED OUT LOOKING FOR PARTS FOR MY 200 LOOPPER AND I FOUND A FEW MOTORS THAT PEOPLE DIDINT WANT,THAT WERE RUNNING SO I HAVE PARTS, BUT A GOOD WORK STAND THAT I CAN RUN THE MOTOR FOR A FEW SECONDS WOULD BE GREAT. SO I CAN PLAYAROUND.

THANKS
JOHN
jdgti@aol.com

I have to agree with Sloopy on the ramp question.

While there may be ramps that are not harmed by running engines in gear under power there are many more that have sand or mud bottoms off the end of the paving.

Propwash will dig huge trenches that can swallow a trailer wheel and leave the boat launcher in real trouble.

Many of these ramps forbid power loading for the same reason.

Test tanks that you can back your boat up to or attach a stand to are not hard to set up, though you need a big one to really test 200HP without blowing all the water out. A test tank plus a test wheel would duplicate what a lot of shops use.

For running without load on "the muffs" a prop muffler is good for several reasons. It muffles the engine noise, plus provides the same exhaust back pressure you get on the water.

I would try West, Overton's, and other catalog stores.

Good luck. :)
