I am thinking of purchasing a 2009 force 40hp w/tilt and trim.Would u recommend it? Will they ever start making them again?

No such animal I believe Force dissapeared around 96.
Force is long gone you wont see any new production they are old technology and not worth upgrading.Mercury hasn't done active parts support (read that new parts manufacture)For some years.
I wouldn't buy a motor with no active parts support.You can still get
E/J parts back to the early 50s right here at iboats.NAPA marine products
catalog has something like 12 pages of Force/Chrysler parts and about 80 pages of E/J parts.

But you can get just about any new part in the after market [NAPA,IBOATS, master tech,mercury marine and many others that offer new parts for these motors.They are an older tech ,but they are very easy to work on and fix [for d.i.y.ers] They are no better or worse than any other motor ,if it has been serviced properly it will last,if it's been abused it will give problems.,so really it boils down to how it's been taken care of previously.,and there's always going to be some whiners on here telling you that they're junk and no good and stay away from them ,but it's USUALLY some one who's never owned one and sometimes never worked on one,so like I said it depends on the service done to it previously,and this is MY opinion on this subject. Yeah, last year of production was 1999.
If you plan on doing all the work on it yourself, it may be worth it.

But don't expect to find a dealer to service it for you.

In this tough times for all dealers ,they would be crazy to turn down any service work, regardless of make or model, what difference would that make???? In the southern states area ,I've had no problem at various dealers with getting parts ,with the offer to install said parts. Is there something different about your part of the country not wanting MONEY ?????? If it's been maintained as it needed to be ,it should give good service no different from any other motor johnny rude or other motors, and hard parts swapping among the different hp lines of force are quite good regardless of series designation. As I mentioned before,there's always nay sayers on the force forum ,check the maintenance record and make your decision based on that and how it runs now.A test ride in the boat is a must before spending any money.This is my opinion on the force subject, ask others on the forum for their's. Apparently.

Very difficult to find an honest and skilled mechanic that will work on a Force, Chrysler, Homelite, or Suzuki.

Some will take them in, throw some parts at them, and expect you to pay for a motor that runs worse than when you dropped it off.

Some won't take them at all, siting parts availability, or lack of shop manuals, or no factory certified techs.

They are a real simple motor to work on as it uses old style design from the 70's . The only problem will be finding "hard parts" such as gearcase parts as few aftermarket companys offer any and what parts you can still get from Mercury are overpriced. The draw back to this engine is: old designs,discontinued,low resale value. A clean good running 40 Force with trim in my area will only bring about $1100 but I can buy them at sales for$200-500.
