Anyone have any idea how good these are. Its a one owner boat, with all maint records. I dont want to buy another problem like I did with the last bayliner. Thanks for any input.

Re: Buying a 1994 Fling on Sat

Had a '94 Fling that we hated. It was a beautiful boat...and I must say the Four Winns product is very well made. We had tons of mechanical problems - one right after another - despite the fact that the running gear is OMC. Very difficult to get someone to work on it (and work on it correctly) due to the fact that it was an "oddity" around here (we live in a rural area). I loved looking at it, but hated taking it out on the water. It was fun to drive...when it ran.

Hate to put down a brand or model...perhaps the one you are looking at was maintaned better and will be trouble free :), but ours was a miserable experience.

Sorry :(

I believe the head was standard OMC 115 HP fare. I had to have the jet drive rebuilt and found a mechanic to do it if I found the parts. I found them online...wasn't really too hard :).

One other thing you might want to take into account (I've been reading a post about boat loading) is that because of its size and the jet drive, it is essential that you load it evenly and don't have a lot of moving around. This boat gets completely squirrely if you don't have an even load.

On that note, it behaves well on plane...and OK at slow speeds, but this drive type makes it hard to handle at medium speeds. It really wallows around. I know there are quite a few jet boat models out there...so someone may want to overrule me on this.

Well after talking with a few jet boat mechanics, and prev jet boat owners...I decided to pass on this. The boat mechanic I talked to said if the company making the jet boat is not a jet ski manufacturer then stay away from it...He said the Yamaha and See Doo jet boats are pretty good but the four winns, and Sea Rays...etc etc...are not so good...So I am back to searching for the right boat or ski for us
