Buying a 93 Evinrude 40hp. Any ideas

On what I should look for when I buy this? It's been sitting for about a year in a garage on a pallet. What do I look for? Im going to get it running and stuff, just need to know what to look for. When I get it back I would change gear oil ect.. But I never have had a motor this size so what should I look for as possible problems.

What should compression be on this? 105lbs?

Treat it as though it has been in storage without winterizing, MR.

New impeller, clean carbs, new champion plugs gapped at .030".

Check out the how to do compression checks post stuck up top here.

Cylinders should be within 10%.
