I know that OMC is outta biz, but found this good looking Chris Craft 24 ft cuddy for sale, just uner $7k. Should I stay away from OMC? It has a 351 OMC engine and OMC King Cobra outdrive. Is the 351 strong enough to push this 24 ft cuddy?

Thanks Gang!

Post it up in the OMC section, and you'll get all kinds of suggestions to stay away from it. From what I gather, the King Cobra, and Ford motors are worst case scenarios... But the guys who know can elaborate.

That's an awfully pretty boat though...

Leave it here. It has the magic letters in the title and they'll see it.

New Tires on a trailer can hide a bent axle
The Back to Back seats are not original, or have been recovered.
Carpet looks very clean, maybe too clean
The boat and engine are 27 yrs old, being an OMC, it is an Orphan. Some parts will be getting difficult to find, and service support is weakening
A complete inspection of Boat, and the Motor, should be done by a qualified person.
If you go look at it, jump up and down to see if floor is solid

Myself I would pass due to age, and it being a Ford engine(my first car was a Ford, 43 yrs ago. I have had GM ever since.)

assume you need to replace the motor and drive the second you buy it. then pay accordingly.

the only package that would have been worse than the 351/king cobra would have been an EFI 351/king cobra as there are no parts available for the EFI.

If you want 24 ft. long lawn ornament sitting in your yard, go for it. It's a sharp looking rig but chrome don't get you home.
