I have been passing a boat that had a 1972 9.5 on it for the last three months. I stopped friday to inquire about it and the guy said it was seized up. He said his father bought it new and used it very little and when he took it out of the barn it would not turn over.
Well the motor was real clean looking and the prop had very little scratches on it. Being the sucker that I am I purchased this motor and hauled it home in the back of my squad car. :D
I pulled the head off and the bottom hole had just enough rust in it to stop it from turning so a little pb blaster set it free. I cleaned it up and decarbed it and soaked the carb and put her back together and on the first half pull she fired right up. I installed a new impeller and new lower oil and put on the flat bottom and went to the river. Man it ran like a new one.
I have a grand total of 65.00 invested in this motor now.
Something finally came my way. :D :)
