Buying a evinrude 225 ficht have RPM question

I am a new boater, just bougth a 23ft Seaswirl with 2001 Evinrude 225 FICHT. The dealer gave me a printout showing the previous owner put 146 hrs on the motor, 58% was at 500rpm, trolling speed I guess, is this bad for the motor? and is it true that 146 hrs is condidered low hours? I average 8-10 hrs /wk for 30 wks a year. For an average season of 30 wks, that's only just over one hour a wk. I consider it VERY low hours. Check compression (around 100 psi and not more than 10% difference), change the plugs (indexed!), and do a decarb and all should be well.<br />Welcome aboard, post often if you wish, and Good Luck<br />Also check for a wide open throttle RPM of appx 5800 with a light load.

If a dealer wants to show you the printout,I hope he showed you more.146 hours sounds okay.But when you run the numbers that is 84 hours at dead idle ?Does the printout show any other numbers ?<br /><br />DHP

Do your homework, I am not a FICHT expert but some model years require some up-dates to keep them humming.<br /><br />Mac

yes the dealer showed me all the numbers , 3.67 hrs at 5500 rpm, 2.419 at 5000 2.17 at 4500, 4.156 at 4000, 3.74 at 3500, 4.20 at 3000 etc etc on down.........also the compression check was 140 in all six sounds high, but they said it was perfect according to the mechanics notation ,....what do you think... thanks Darrel
