i am looking at buying a starcraft tom. need to know as much info as i can. How good of boats are they? The one I am looking at got rebuilt in 08. Are they ok for the sounds, bays ? i will be in mostly salt water. Getting the boat and hull for 1200.00 is taht a good deal? Also is a 175 evinrude to big for it? Here are a couple of pic of it.

If the deck and transom are in good condition it might be worth 1200. However if it doesn't come with a motor that's probably to much. That boat should be able to handle a 175, you would have to look at the capacity tag to see what it's rated for.

Hey redneck, welcome to iboats!

i am looking at buying a starcraft tom.

Awesome!

need to know as much info as i can.

You are in the right place! There is more info housed right here on the iboats Starcraft section than anywhere on the planet. Pull up a chair, grab your favorite beverage, and start reading. Everything you'd ever want to know is all here. If you have specific questions we'll be happy to answer em.

How good of boats are they?

They are the bombdiggity.:)
The one I am looking at got rebuilt in 08.

What methods? Using what materials? This is an important question that would need answering.

Are they ok for the sounds, bays ?

21 foot CC? You bet!

Getting the boat and hull for 1200.00 is taht a good deal?

The rebuild method/material question would need to be answered to answer this one ^^^.

Also is a 175 evinrude to big for it?

Nah, I think that would be a sweet match:D

please leave some info or email me back at

Heads up, posting up your email here on the iboats forum is frowned upon.

Cheers and good luck!

If that's an aluminum trailer, that rig is likely worth the $1200

bienvenidos amigo! yes, that's a great big water boat if you don't mind that being alum and thus lighter than glass, it will pound and boom a bit more. but cheap to run, a big item for me.
we could give you more help on value with better pix, and you need to take an awl or small screwdriver and check for softness in lower part of transom to know what you're getting into. how are tires on trailer? this can be $400 expense real fast. also, where are you? they command a lot more $ in some areas than others, and how good a deal it is may depend partly on that. i think the higher prices they command on the coasts might tend to reflect the big-water nature of that hull.

all that said, IF transom and floors are good and no major hull issues, and trailer looks good, i'd consider 1000-1200 for that one.

(my first thought on hearing a Starcraft Tom was "get it neutered before it starts to spray on everything....";))
