Buzzards Bay with a bowrider.

I going to be in Wareham the first week in Aug. The hotel owner said there is a ramp at the Narrows for my 23' bowrider. This is my first year with it and I was just in 2' chop in the Chesapeake with my kids and they were not so happy. Can I find some places to tube where it is fairly flat? We know people at Swifts Beach so we will end up anchoring close and maybe just playing right in front of that beach, seems like I've seen smaller boats out there. If someone knows the area I would greatly appreciate any info. I have to drag it from Philly for 4 days. If I'm going to need perfect weather to go out, and only get 1 day to go, I'll probably leave it at home.

Biidc , August should be some of our best weather so I'll Egg you on to bring the boat . Even if the water is choppy you can go to the other side of the canal / Mass bay side for calmer waters + nice beaches. peter

Thanks for the idea of going north. I thought the north side of the cape would be rougher and colder. I have been to Ptown and could not even walk in the water. Did one SCUBA trip there with a wetsuit and did not sign up for the second day. Is the Mass bay going to be better later in the day, when the wind shifts? I don't expect to go out too far, just tool along the shore sightseeing and maybe some early morning fishing before the wife and kids get up.

Hi again Billdc . Our good weather will result from west winds from onshore . Either Buzzards bay or mass bay will be nice . outer cape - P town ,welfleet, through Dennis can get rougher depending on wind speed .
Storms in summer tend to blow up on southerly winds wich will make B-Bay realy choppy or worse ; that's when going to ma-bay ie- Sandwich , Scussett , up to Plymouth and enjoy the sandy beaches there .
As for the outer cape surf side - National Seahore , P-town , Truro , Orleans ; thats notorious water !!! Best to view it from the beach ! peter

Hey BillDC - Sorry that we missed you at Saturdays raft up! Did get to see some pics though and it looked like everyone had a great time.

Anyway - We were up in the Cape last year for a week in the fall. We stayed in South Yarmouth. We didn't take that boat though and it was hard to keep from wishing that I would have. Especially since we were staying at a place that overlooked a Marina!

We did take a harbour cruise and the ferry over to Natucket it so that got me out on the water some. The cape is a very beautiful area!

Sorry that I can't be of much help about Buzzards Bay. Altough having been to the Cape once, if I ever went back, it would most definitly be with the boat!

I used windsurf a lot in Buzzards Bay? It can be very windy in afternoon due to thermo effect in sunny day. Could blow easy 25mph + with 2 foot of chop? Please pay attention to weather forecast that wind can change much in morning and afternoon.

Are there any spots that might be calm in the afternoon? pduguette sounded like going over to the east end of the canal or even up to Plymouth, might get me out of the worst of the afternoon sea breeze. I appreciate all the help and believe me I'm going to moniter the weather reports all day.
