bypassing starter fuse mercruiser 3.0l

My friend was helping me start my mercruiser 3.0 - he bypassed the 55 amp fuse just before the starter, the fuse had fallen apart at some point, is this going to cause problems for me, stupid questions are allowed right?

Depends on whether melted wiring and/or fire are problems. I think you know the answer to your question, fix it before it costs you a bunch of extra money.

there is no starter fuse, that 90A block is for the main wiring system . Very early boats didnt have such an item. It`s currently called the "Lawer Fuse"

O.K. I figured that it would cause some problem but wasn't sure what, I definitely will get that fuse replaced. Thank You All !! btw I'm a 67 yr old lady who will have lots of stupid questions before that boat gets running properly so thanks for your patience
