You're welcome! And now...speaking from the enthusiastic owner's viewpoint: why aren't you selling Seaswirls? If your market will support 18' fishing boats, the various Stripers are pretty good buys.

Granted, they're completly different boats: the 18' Seaswirl WA, with 115-hp standard motor weighs 2900 lbs, has bigger dimensions and is probably better suited for more snotty waters, but their dual console and/or center console may be well suited to big inland waters. On the other hand, the 18' C-dory weighs only 900+/-lbs, will take a maximum 55 hp engine. I'm guessing the C-dory boat costs more, but because of the engine size, the package price may be about the same?

Anyway, now that you mention it, I'm interested in the process a dealer uses to chose the brands to represent.

My market isn't particularly 18ft anglers.

The C-Dory market(here)is more of a trailerable "pocket cruiser" than a fishing model. The more shallow draft works well on the rivers/canals and for the more protected(island areas) of the great lakes. I am not looking to market these as open water fishing vessels.

True, the pace is a little slower, but where exactly do you need to be: by tonight?, by tommorrow night?, by next weekend? Most of my customers are on no particular schedule and prefer the weight and fuel savings (extended range) of a smaller more efficient boat.

As to how a dealer chooses his boat lines: There is a different answer for every dealer. Likewise for every boat line looking for a dealer. Sad to say it, but most boat lines pick the first dealer in an area that is willing to purchase boats for inventory... Not a great way to start!

As for my purposes... I already have a small C-Dory client base established.(service,etc...) I am doing a little research as to whether or not C-Dory sales is a viable part of my business. In my area, supply is very low, and demand is moderate. That's another huge factor...
