hey guys

always something-- we went out yesterday for our first time as new owners of the 2000 searay sundander-- ran great no problem there. the problem is that we found the carpet floor in the cabin is getting wet and I cant figure out how!!!!! I checked the sump pump seems to work when I put the shower on. Should that also work as a bilge for the water flowing underneath from the engine compartment????? any help as to where to look for this mystery water getting the floor wet?

Thanks
Cool It

Re: cabin floor wet

Is there any water in the bilge at the rear of the boat? Is the bilge pump working?

Many boats which try to get absolutely every inch of cabin headroom sometimes have the cabin floor so low that it is only marginally above bilge water level - if the boat it loaded so that it is down by the bow a bit, the bilge can back into the cabin.

if you look you going to find you really dont have a bilge

maybe and 2 or 3 inches at best then the floors wet

pretty much the same for every boat of that type

i have found that the small tubes they glass in between comparments to drain water clog pretty easy

snake or coat hanger will get it going again

also its pretty easy for some deck hardware ,or anythink on the deck to leak water on a rough day it may need to be tightened or recaulked

tommays

Based on your logo I may have the answer since I experienced a similar problem.Scenario: The fridge is filled with brewskies, pepsi and bottled water. All nice and cold. The day is over and the fridge is turned off.The cans and bottles will sweat like you wouldnt believe once the air around them warms up.Depending on how many bottles and cans ,it can condensate up to a full cup of water. It runs out the bottom of the door, seeps into the floor and is virtually impossible to figure out. PS-I now leave my fridge on all the time.Hope this is your problem!! Charlie

lick the carpet. is it salty? sounds silly, but first thing to figure out is if it's fresh water or what your boat is floating in.

I have a sundancer a liitle older than yours. There is a little compartment, or mini bilge under the bunk in the aft cabin. There is no way for water to leave it but the ice box drains into it :confused:If yours has the same design could be the same thing.I keep a 1 galon shop vac on the boat, use it to clean this up and any other mess on the boat.

Jim
