The manaual I am looking at says Sea Ray. It's the owners manual found online at Sea Ray for a 1988 Sundancer 268. The manual is undetailed on everything and has not instructions on using the heater except to put the thermostat on the warmest setting.

That's what I figured. Those instructions are for the factory Cruisair systems that came as an option on the boat. There were several different options available, with and without heat. You need to track down your AC unit on the boat and find the model number.

You do realize that you need to be hooked up to 120AC power (shore or generator) and have the AC unit "ON" for the heater to work (if you have a heater)? Does your AC unit run at all?

Find the AC unit and post what brand and model number it is. It may not be the factory unit, and it may not have heating capability. You can see from the 1987 Cruisair sheet below that there were both Cooling Only and Cooling/Heating versions available.

So, the sea **** has to be open? Is that the valve coming off of the engine? I'll get the model number today. And yes, I have the AC on, turning it on in the order that has been recomended by the help group here. We'll have the mystery (heat or no heat) solved soon. Thanks very much for all of your time.

The seacock should be located in the mid-cabin near the forward bilge pumps. It supplies lake water to the air conditioning unit and must be on whenever it's operating. It may also need to be primed for first use (thereafter, while still in the water, it's fine).

Let us know what model air\heat you're working with...

And I've never heard of a cabin heater that uses engine heat -- that's usually for hot water, not hot air.

They do have small units with a blower, I first saw one in a bayliner, little unit smaller than a bread box, works off the same hoses that go to the water heater, or you could pull one out of a old school bus I guess

I don' know of any mid cabin anything except the head and the AC unit under the galley bench. Could the seacock be in the engine compartment or the head?

The AC ID plate is visible on the compressor but there is no model number or model number space to put a number. Anywhere else the model number might be? The serial number is there but no model number.
