I'm trying to hook up a set of new teleflex shift cables to my 1957 Javelin. The teleflex 400 style cables I bought said they were good for motors prior 1979. There is a plastic adjustment wheel on the new cables that replaces a brass barrel that were on the old cables. The new plastic adjustment is larger than the original cable locks (OMC parts 303241 and 303556) that worked with the old cables.
So my question is, do i just grind out the old locks to make the new cables fit or can I just buy a different set of locks that will work with the newer style adjusters on the newer cables. What's my best option?
Thanks in advance for the help.
