I'm looking to buy a boat and there are a couple available in my are that I'm interested in. This is kind of an apples to oranges comparison so I welcome any thoughts on either of these 2 boats on their own.

89 Cajun Fish/Ski model 16' with 90hp Mercury for $3500

Champion 16' Bass Boat with 150hp mercury for $4500
http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/boa/2476901988.html

I like the extra seating on the Cajun if I want to take people out for a little cruise but I like the power and the layout of the Champion for fishing.

Thoughts? Do the prices look reasonable?
Anyone in Chicagoland area with something similar for sale get in touch (note total length of boat w/ trailer can't exceed 21')

Yeah definitely apples and oranges. Do you want a fish 'n ski or just the fish part :p I think the Champion is overpriced.

both are quality boats. you need to decide what you are going to use it for the most. years ago I bought a 17' fish and ski and it was the biggest mistake I ever made. boat and motor ran great but there is no room to move and the storage sucks. for fishing I would go with the Champ. you can probably talk him down a little on the price.

All depends on what you want to use it for. I love my fish and ski - but to be fair, I'm only using it 25% of the time for pure fishing. Most of the time, the wife and/or others are on board. Really, only you can choose between the two.

Yeah - I'm having a tough time deciding exactly what to get. I will probably be about 60/40 between fishing and cruising. I appreciate your comments because its helping me think this through

So is storage and maneuverability vs. extra seating the real difference between these 2 boat types?
I can't imagine taking 4 or 5 people out on the Champion for a little cruise in comfort but I can imagine being able to fish alright on the Cajun fish n' ski.
